Taylor Phinney eyes Boardman's record

18 year old Taylor Phinney impressed everybody with 4:05.223 min. in the 4000 TT at the Track World Cup in Ballerup. The american now sets his sights on Chris Boardman's World Record of 4:11.114.

The teenager from Colorado improved his personal best with more than seven seconds to take the gold in the Track World Cup Finals in Ballerup. "I've broken a barrier and I now hope I can stay at this level in the future", Phinney says in an interview with the Danish Cyling site CyclingWorld.dk.

Phinney who is a part of Lance Armstrongs U23-Road Team Livestrong, left for Colorado Sunday morning where he will spending the next couple of days before going to Mexico in preparations for The Track World Championships in Poland in late March.

"I was nowhere near 100% in Copenhagen, so I should be able to improve at the World Championships in Poland. I've heard the Track in Poland is very fast, so maybe I can get really close to Boardmans' record already there", says Phinney, who also tels of a boyhood dream. "Beating Boardman's record at the Olympics in London 2012 would be a fantastic achievement",

Chris Boardman's World Record is 4:11.114, set in Manchester in 1996.
